Connection to God. Connection to each other.
Our spirituality is an incredibly important part of who we are that is often overlooked. In a culture that focuses more on independence and self-reliance, the value of relationships and how they affect our spiritual well-being is often overlooked. It is not uncommon for many of us to feel lost, lonely, or disconnected in our spirituality, confused about our faith, our relationship with God, or our direction in life. Furthermore, we may feel overwhelmed with so many messages on where to go, how to live life, how to find purpose and meaning, and what to believe.
Attachment theory proposes that we come into the world in need of connection. We are in need of physical and mental connection in relationships... and spirituality is no different. Meaning and purpose in our life cannot be found by simply turning inward... it is found through connection with our creator.
A relationship with God is like any other relationship that involves vulnerability, trust, and faith. My spiritual direction involves exploring that relationship with God to not only grow deeper in understanding what that relationship is and how it works, but also to experience that relationship as it was meant to be: as a son and daughter. When we have a strong sense of our sonship in God as a loving Father, we gain identity and purpose. When we strengthen the bonds of our family, both physical and spiritual, we learn and experience what it means to be adopted in the family of God. It is here we find our purpose.
Our goal will be to explore your relationship with God and others to understand the narratives you live by and seek to re-write and change those that are keeping you from living an empowered life of purpose and meaning with God and the people you love.
